Baptisms, Weddings, and Memorials
The pace of change in our world seems to be ever increasing. Technology that was new last year is obsolete the next. Amidst all of the change, some aspects of our lives remain constant: people are born, people marry, and, in the fullness of time, people die. One of the most meaningful aspects of congregational life is serving as witness to these life events through baptism, marriage, and funeral/memorial services.
Baptisms
Presbyterians consider Baptism as one of the two Sacraments of the church. In the Reformed Tradition of our heritage, we believe while the choice we make to follow after the way of Christ is important, Christ’s choice to love us is even more so. And so, as a sign and seal of God’s unconditional love, Presbyterians baptize infants demonstrating God’s love for us before we can even speak. Presbyterians also welcome older unbaptized children and adults to receive this Sacrament when they decide to make the faith their own. Believing we only need to be baptized once, we honor the baptisms of other faith traditions and do not require folks be baptized again to join our congregation. (If you are interested in having your child baptized please note that because baptism is an act of the whole congregation, we ask that at least one of the parents is an active member of the church.) For more information, please call the church office to make an appointment with Pastor Ken.
Weddings
If you are interested in getting married or renewing your commitment, TPC welcomes members and nonmember weddings. You may require a pastor and musical staff support, or you may simply need a simple and beautiful facility. TPC has hosted weddings done in a variety of ways. For details download our Wedding Policy in the sidebar. For more information please contact the church office.
Memorials
Paul writes: “If we live we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. So whether we live or die, we belong to God.” (Romans 14:8) One of the most important times in a person’s life is when they grieve the death of someone they love. As with weddings, TPC welcomes member and nonmember memorials and funerals. For more details see our Memorial Policy located in the sidebar. Also, on the grounds of TPC is a lovely memorial garden with both engraved stones as well as a unique river bed with inscribed river rocks to remember the great communion of saints. If you are interested in remembering someone in this way, please contact the office.
