Welcome!

Hi, this is Pastor Ken.  I'm new to TPC too!  My family and I moved to Tualatin in the summer of 2004, and so I'm still getting to know my way around this church like you are.  The reasons why I came and feel so excited to be here are 1) Great people! 2) The creative and open minded spirit 3) The sense of fun and informality.  Whether you are a regular church goer or whether you have been in church in a long, long time- there is a place for you here at TPC.  Come and check us out!

Membership at TPC

First, what membership is NOT.  

• Church membership here does not make God love you any more than God already does.  We believe we are saved by grace- not by joining this church or any other.  

• Church membership here does not entitle you to special treatment and better privileges other than getting to vote in a congregational meeting.  In fact it's just the opposite.  As Christ teaches us that the last shall be first and that those who wish to lead must become servants of all, church members will be called upon to give of their time and talent, to care for those who are in need, and to pitch in when help is needed.

Then what IS membership?

• All church members affirm their trust that Jesus Christ shows us what God is really like.  Members here will think about things like scripture and Christ in different ways, but all affirm their desire for Christ and his boundary breaking love to be at the center of their lives.

• Church members are folks who don't just want to talk to the talk but want to walk the walk.  Church members are men and women who want to live their faith and minister to those in need.

What's the process to become a member?

• If you desire to become a member, please speak to the pastor, one of the elders or deacons.  

• Next, Pastor Ken will meet with you to talk more about your faith and the meaning of membership, and may set up a time during worship for you to publicly join the church by baptism or by affirming your faith.

• After you have joined, we offer a small group of other new members who will meet once a month for a year to learn more about the church and about different opportunities to serve.
