Tuesday’s Treasures
One of our most vital community missions is our Tuesday Treasure night. Our Tuesday Treasure night supports adults with developmental disabilities and their families. On the third Tuesday of the month our Treasures gather, and volunteers provide a snack, then participate with the Treasures in craft projects and worship.
Our Treasure program is just one aspect of the larger Quiet Waters Outreach. In the Portland area Treasure nights serve over 450 Treasures and are supported by over 350 volunteers. Another key part of the Quiet Waters Outreach is a bed and breakfast known as Martha’s House, which provides affordable care for adults with disabilities allowing their care givers some much needed respite. Working on the “honey do” list at Martha’s House is a common activity for our men’s group.
Anyone is welcome to come and volunteer on a Tuesday night. If you come, you will leave knowing one thing- you will not be just giving blessing; you will be receiving it as well! If you want to learn more, please contact our Mission Elder.
