Howdy all, Ken here for my inaugural ‘blog’ for our brand new website. I’m not exactly sure how we’re going to be using this blog yet. I’m not sure if it will take the form of a ‘Captain’s Log’ (what is our Stardate, by the way- anyone know?), a place for me to pose questions I’m thinking about, a place to tell you about things going on at the church, or all three or something entirely different. But, as always, I’ll try my best to make it interesting and to make it honest.
The title of the blog comes from a well known quote by Tertullian, a cranky North African church father who lived from around 160-220 CE: ”What has Athens to do with Jerusalem?” He was questioning the cozy relationship some leaders in the early church had formed with the Greek philosophical tradition. I’m using his quote fairly loosely and have changed it into a declarative statement claiming God is surely up to something, even in Tualatin. What exactly God is up to, though- that is a mystery that will unfold over time. I’ll do my best to offer the glimpses I catch from day to day.
So, I hope you’re enjoying the new look of the website- we endeavored for a clean, simple look and feel, and our designer, Amy Drews, has succeeded wildly I think!
Ok, blogosphere. That’s enough for now. More later…
